Climate Change

Climate Change

The greatest threat to the world today is that we are destroying it. The Human race never faced such a global crises like the one by the destruction of the environment. Scientists are confirming that our actions have induced global warming and climate change. For example, in the name of human consumption every second an area the size of a football pitch are cut down. More than half of the world’s rainforests have already been destroyed.

Acid rain devastating life in the forests, lakes, rivers, mountains and it’s also a serious health hazard to us.

Many areas of the great oceans have been overfished so that now some species are near extinction, e.g. whales. We need to keep in mind that animals have also their communities and nations. The Koran confirms this:

“No creature is there crawling on the earth, no bird is flying with its wings, but they are nations like unto yourselves. “ Chapter 6: 38

Marked short- term fluctuations in weather can have serious effects on health. Extremes of heat and cold can cause potentially fatal illnesses, e.g. heat stress or hypothermia, as well as increasing death rates from heart and respiratory diseases. 150 000 people die every year from climate change.

God says in the Koran:

“Corruption has spread far and wide over land and sea, due to the action of humankind. God is giving them a taste of their own actions as a means of finding a way back to Him” Chapter 30:41

Alternative sources of power are energy from the sun, tide and winds. We as human being have a responsibility towards our body, the society and towards the nature.

God says in the Koran:

“It is He who has appointed you guardians in the earth, and has raised some of you in rank above others, that He may try you in what He has giving you.“ Chapter 6: 165

We Muslims believe that human being were appointed guardian of the earth.

Furthermore God says in the holy Koran:

“We have offered the responsibility  (freedom of choice) to the heavens and the earth, and the mountains, but they refused to bear it, and were afraid of it. But the human being accepted it.” Chapter 33: 72

There is an adage from Taiwan by Cheng Yen which says:

“Life becomes meaningful when we shoulder responsibilities. Avoiding responsibilities make our life empty. “

Increasing numbers of Christian theologians and ethicist are responding to the environmental challenge as the world gets hotter, stormier, unequal, crowded, more violent, and less biodiverse. The multiple traditions of Christianity take competing and cooperative forms and convey an emphasis that can be either constricting or liberating.

The reason why we are facing nowadays this problem is by our own rapidly changing lifestyles, particularly in the last 50 years. The enormous demands we have been making on the earth’s resource and the way we’ve been changing the natural world are the reasons. Climate change is a long term problem, which affects every single human being living today and the future generation.

Cheng Yen said:

“Having 2 hands and refuse to work is no difference than having no hands at all.”

We’re now living in the West, a secular society. The reasons why people change the nature are to get more of it. The earth has been manipulated so that more grows. And the more grows the more you can sell, and the more you can sell the more you’ll earn and the more money you’ll have. That’s the reality of capitalism.

Day for day we go out and buy food, but are we aware of the things we eat? Is it really healthy to eat fruits and vegetables? If it’s not organic, it won’t give us anything we need. It will just damage our body, because it’s not real food. We’re asking ourselves why there are so many diseases. It’s simply because of what we consume. It’s the chemicals we use, the Gen-manipulated food we eat and obviously the pollution.

But that’s the system of capitalism and secularisation we’re living in. And one does not have to be a Muslim to understand this.

Everything is persuading us to buy, to consume and the desire to posses more and more. But does material things make us really happy? Is it really this what our souls and bodies need?

“Life is full of illness, disease is illness, social unrest is illness, and even family dispute is illness. That is why social order rests on family education, and family education rests on individual integrity.”  By Cheng Yen

Peace Workers, which were killed by Isralis Soldier in Gaza

Rachel Corrie, American Peace Worker was killed 2003 in Palestine by an Israilie Sodier

On 16 March 2003 in Rafah, occupied Gaza, 23-year-old American peace activist Rachel Corrie from Olympia, Washington, was murdered by an Israeli bulldozer driver. Rachel was in Gaza opposing the bulldozing of a Palestinian home as a volunteer with the International Solidarity Movement.

Rachel and seven other ISM activists were in the Hi Es Salam area of Rafah, Gaza, trying to prevent the razing of Palestinian land and property. Present were two Israeli occupation army bulldozers and a tank. For a period of two hours, the activists played 'cat and mouse', attempting to prevent the illegal demolitions by physically blocking the passage of the two bulldozers.

An e-mailed report from the Palestine Monitor stated:

Rachel Corrie (ISM Handout)
"Rachel Corey [sic], 23 years old from the state of Washington, was killed while she was trying to prevent Israeli army bulldozers from destroying a Palestinian home. Other foreigners who were with her said the driver of the bulldozer was aware that Rachel was there, and continued to destroy the house. Initially he dropped sand and other heavy debris on her, then the bulldozer pushed her to the ground where it proceeded to drive over her, fracturing both of her arms, legs and skull. She was transferred to hospital, where she later died. Another foreigner was also injured in the attack and has been hospitalized - at this stage his nationality is unknown." (15 March 2003)

A press release from the International Solidarity Movement stated that:

"Rachel had been staying in Palestinian homes threatened with illegal demolition, and today Rachel was standing with other non-violent international activists in front of a home scheduled for illegal demolition. According to witnesses, Rachel was run over twice by the Israeli military bulldozer in its process of demolishing the Palestinian home. Witnesses say that Rachel was clearly visible to the bulldozer driver, and was doing nothing to provoke an attack." (15 March 2003)

The photos below clearly show that Rachel was well marked, had a megaphone which removes any doubt that the activists' presence was somehow invisible to the driver, and she clearly posed no threat to the bulldozer driver.

Picture taken between 3:00-4:00PM, 16 March 2003, Rafah, Occupied Gaza. Rachel Corrie (L) and Nick (R) oppose the potential destruction of this home (to the west of the Doctor's home where Rachel was killed). In the instance pictured, the bulldozer did not stop and Rachel was pinned between the scooped earth and the fence behind her. On this occasion, the driver stopped before seriously?injuring her. A clearly marked Rachel Corrie, holding a megaphone, confronts the driver of one of two Israeli bulldozers in the area that were attempting to demolish a Palestinian homes. She was confronting the bulldozer in order to disrupt its work, and prevent it from threatening any homes. Photo by Joseph Smith. (ISM Handout)
Picture taken at 4:45PM on 16 March 2003, Rafah, Occupied Gaza. Other peace activists tend to Rachel after she was fatally injured by the driver of the Israeli bulldozer (in background). This photo was taken seconds after the bulldozer driver dragged his blade over her for the second time while reversingback over her body. He lifted the blade?as seen in the photo only after he had dragged it back over Rachel's body. This image clearly shows that had he lifted his blade at any time he may have avoided killing her, as the bottom section of the bulldozer is raised off the ground. Photo by Richard Purssell. Rachel in Najjar hostpital, Rafah, Occupied Gaza. Rachel arrived in the emergency room at 5:05PM and doctors scrambled to save her. By 5:20PM, she was gone. Ha'aretz newspaper reported that Dr. Ali Musa, a doctor at Al-Najjar, stated that the cause of death was "skull and chest fractures". (Mohammad Al-Moghair)

A later report from ISM Media Coordinator Michael Shaik in Beit Sahour offered more details about the events:
"The confrontation between the ISM and the Israeli Army had been under way for two hours when Rachel was run over. Rachel and the other activists had clearly identified themselves as unarmed international peace activists throughout the confrontation.

The Israeli Army are attempting to dishonour her memory by claiming that Rachel was killed accidentally when she ran in front of the bulldozer. Eye-witnesses to the murder insist that this is totally untrue. Rachel was sitting in the path of the bulldozer as it advanced towards her. When the bulldozer refused to stop or turn aside she climbed up onto the mound of dirt and rubble being gathered in front of it wearing a fluorescent jacket to look directly at the driver who kept on advancing. The bulldozer continued to advance so that she was pulled under the pile of dirt and rubble. After she had disappeared from view the driver kept advancing until the bulldozer was completely on top of her. The driver did not lift the bulldozer blade and so she was crushed beneath it. Then the driver backed off and the seven other ISM activists taking part in the action rushed to dig out her body. An ambulance rushed her to A-Najar hospital where she died."

Colleagues of Rachel comfort each other in Najjar hostpital, Rafah, Occupied Gaza. Ha'aretz newspaper reported that a second activist was also injured at the same location. (Mohammad Al-Moghair)
"This is a regrettable accident," Israeli Defence Forces [sic] spokesman Captain Jacob Dallal was reported as saying in Ha'aretz newspaper. "We are dealing with a group of protesters who were acting very irresponsibly, putting everyone in danger."

Members of the Israeli army and associated Israeli settler paramilitary units have been responsible for the killing of 2,181 Palestinians and the injuring of another 22,218 between 29 September 2000 and 14 March 2003.

In addition to the killing of Rachel Corrie by the bulldozer driver, Israeli troops have shot and killed several other internationals in different incidents during the Intifada: German doctor Harald Fischer, Italian cameraman Rafaeli Ciriello, and British United Nations worker Iain Hook.

Tom Hurndall from England

It is with great sadness that If Americans Knew shares with you the news of the passing away of Tom Hurndall.

Tom, 22, died Tuesday night in a London hospital due to complications with pneumonia. He had spent the past nine months in a vegetative state after being shot in the head by an Israeli sniper on April 11, 2003, while trying to escort children to safety in Rafah, Gaza Strip, Occupied Palestine.

Tom was a member of the International Solidarity Movement, a Palestinian-led effort to bring internationals to the Occupied Palestinian Territories to aid the civilian population in non-violent resistance to the occupation.

At a hearing on Monday, a soldier arrested last week in connection with the shooting of Tom Hurndall, has finally been indicted on six charges : Aggravated Assault; two counts of Obstruction of Justice; Incitement to False Testimony; False Testimony; and Improper Conduct. A second soldier has been detained and is expected to be indicted on charges of Obstructing Justice and False Testimony.

As we grieve the death of Tom, let us not forget the ongoing catastrophic situation in Palestine that he was working to end. In fact, since he was shot, 407 Palestinians have been murdered and 1,990 have been injured. As Tom’s mother, Jocelyn, wrote recently in the UK Guardian, “It seems that life is cheap in the occupied territories. Different value attached to life depends on whether the victim happens to be Israeli, international or Palestinian.”

We ask that you write letters to the editor of your local newspaper regarding this incident. If your paper covered it, please thank them and ask them to report more on the plight of the Palestinian people. If your paper did not cover it, admonish them for it and demand to know why they consider Tom’s life, like so many in Palestine, unworthy of mention in their pages. Remember, as always, polite, concise, and to-the-point letters are more likely to be published.

For more information regarding Tom, please visit http://www.tomhurndall.co.uk/.

And there are many more Peace Worker, who were killed in Palestine. They died for Peace. These People are Herors!May God bless their Souls

Women was made 2...

Woman was made from the rib of man,

She was not created from his head to top him,

Nor from his feet to be stepped upon,

She was made from his side to be close to him,

From beneath his arm to be protected by him,

Near his heart to be loved by him.

u know u´re veiled if...

bismillah

You know you’re a hijabi/niqabbi if…You get more stares walking through a crowded parking lot than Paris Hilton got when she walked out of jail.

You know you’re a hijabi/niqabbi if…You are constantly asked about your body temperature (are you hot? lol)

You know you’re a hijabi/niqabbi if…People randomly come up to you and ask if your husband makes you wear “that”or you are asked if he abuses you.

You know you’re a hijab/niqabbi if…people ask you if you shower and sleep with that “thing” on.

You know you’re a hijab/niqabbi if…People talk to you and not your body.

You know you’re a hijabi/niqabbi if…You are asked where you are from by just about every person you meet.

You know you’re a hijabi if…You are often mistaken for a nun.

You know you’re a hijabi/niqqabi if…People automatically have a difficulty understanding you even though you speak perfectly clear and correct.

You know you’re a niqabi if…You often hear ninja jokes

You know you’re a niqqabi if…People are facinated by watching you eat. Some are even so facinated that they may video you and post it on the internet.

You know you’re a hijabbi/niqabbi if…you feel the peace and contentment only obtained by obeying your creator..you feel respected and liberated…and you know that even with all the comments and stares your Creator is pleased with you and that’s all that matters!

Ain´t that funny?

Bismillah

Read only if you have time for ALLAH
Let me tell you, make sure you read
all the way to the bottom. I almost deleted this email but I was blessed
when I got to the end ALLAH , when I received this e-mail, I thought...I
don't >have time for this... And, this is really inappropriate during work.
Then, I realized that this kind of thinking is... Exactly, what has
caused >lot of the problems in our world today. We try to keep ALLAH in
MASJIDS >on FRIDAY... Maybe, FRIDAY night... And, the unlikely event of a
MAGHRIB >SALLAH . We do like to have Him around during sickness... And, of
course, at funerals. However, we don't have time, or room, for Him
during work or play... Because.. That's the part of our lives we
hink... We can, and should, handle on our own. May ALLAH forgive me for
ever thinking... That... there is a time or place where.. HE is not to
be FIRST in my life. We should always have time to remember all HE has
done for us. Pass this on ONLY IF YOU MEAN IT!! Yes, I do Love >ALLAH .
HE is my source of existence and Savior. He keeps me >functioning each and
every day. Without Him, I will be nothing. This is the simplest test. If
You Love ALLAH ... And, are not ashamed of all the marvelous things HE has
done for you... Send this to ten people and the person who sent it to you!
Now do you have the time to pass it on? Make sure that you scroll through
to the end. Easy vs. Hard

Why is it so hard to tell the truth but Yet so
easy to tell a lie? Why are we so sleepy in THE MASJID but Right when the
sermon is over we suddenly wake up?  Why is it so easy to delete a HOLY
e-mail, but yet we forward all of the nasty ones? Of all the free gifts we
may receive, Prayer is the very best one.... There are no costs, but
wonderful rewards...

Notes: Isn't it funny how simple it is for people to
NOT BELIEVE IN ALLAH and then wonder why the world's going to hell. Isn't
it funny how someone can say 'I believe in ALLAH ' but still follow Satan
(who, by the way, also 'believes' in ALLAH). Isn't it funny how you can
send a thousand jokes through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but
when you start sending messages regarding ISLAM, people think twice about
sharing? Isn't it funny how when you go to forward this message, you will
not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they
believe, or what they will think of you for sending it to them. Isn't it
funny how I can be more worried about what other people think of me than
what ALLAH thinks of me.

I MAKE DUA , for everyone who sends this to
their entire address book, >they will be blessed by ALLAH in a way special
for them. And send it back >to the person who sent it, to let them know
that indeed it was sent out to >many more.
